Academy 1/72 F-22A Air Dominance Fighter – The Raptor
This is my latest build; the Academy 1/72 ADF where I have added an Eduard zoom-kit and the Aires resin exhausts. The resin sidewalls of the latter fitted really badly so I decided to scratchbuild the walls out of styrene sheet instead.
The "raptor-sheen" was accomplished by first spraying a laquer metallic basecoat and then building up the cammo with highly diluted acrylic paints.
Stunning! You have got the sheen just right. Well done!
Thank you Morne for those kind words 🙂
Turned out well...nice work.
Thank you, Craig 🙂
Nice work, that paint job isn't easy to recreate.
Thank you very much, Tom 🙂
I experimented with enamel paints and a "Have Glass" paint from Hataka, but it didn't look right so I decided to try my own mix.
Nicely done Tommy.
Thank you Allan 🙂
Great looking Raptor, Tommy! It looks ready to pounce on its enemy. The paint and finish are outstanding. How did you tint the canopy glass? With clear yellow, perhaps?
Well, however you did it, the result is GREAT!
Bravo!
Thanks Jeff 🙂
The kit comes with a double set of clear parts; tinted and clear. I used the clear canopy for masking during the paint-stage, as a "sacrificial part".
great job
Thanks Bob! 🙂
An amazing build!
Thank you, Robert! 🙂
Looks great!
Thanks Greg! 😀
