Takom 1/35 G6 Rhino
I will be starting my next build soon. It is the Takom 1/35 G6 Rhino, the 155mm mobile cannon developed by the South African Defence Force in the 1980's.
As there are a few sites that show the amount of parts for this kit, I have not photographed them but here is a link for them: http://www.themodellingnews.com/2017/01/in-boxed-takoms-35th-scale-g6-rhino.html.
For those who are interested I will be doing a WIP with photos when I complete a section as per the instruction whilst I build this model.
I look forward to seeing it!
This is an AWESOME kit. I have one in the stash so I am looking forward to your build.
Hi Morne. I will be painting mine in the old SADF Nutria Brown and will be making a new set of registration plates for it - the old White on Black R plates.
Started building this kit last night. Made and installed the four hydraulic arms with spades and feet. Two in the middle of the vehicle sides and two at the rear. All four are operational and can be posed in the up or down position. Each one of these consists of 10 parts and are not the easiest of items to work with. You have to be very careful not to get glue on any part of the hydraulic piston. Photos of the right side of the vehicle.

Hello Philip,
Going to follow your WIP closely. Very interesting subject.
Regards, Dirk
Built some of the drivers cab, painted an off white and glued to one side of the body. Also made and added the steering linkage under to cab. The cross bar has to be heat melted onto the left and right linkages. While waiting for this to dry I started on the turret. Plenty of detail on the surface.

More work done - turret practically completed (awaiting the Alclad2 green tint paint for the armoured glass to arrive) then the cupolas can be installed. The 155mm cannon is also being worked on.
A lot of the grab handles/steps are made from very thin plastic so tend to break. Scratch built some using metal staples bent and cut to size.
Also the vent on the one side of the turret by the cooling systems is a solid plastic grill. Cut this out and used the spare etched grill from the turret basket to make it more realistic.

Found this photo on the net. It gives a size comparison of the G6 RHINO to the CHINESE 152mm TYPE 83 HOWITZER. Both 1/35 scale
