P-40N flown by Lt. Jack A. Fenimaore, 7th FS, 49th FG
I have no further information on Lt. Fenimore but he must have been a good guy because of the name and painting he put on his aircraft.
Again, the kit is from Mauve and I found it to be very good. OOB it is good but if one wanted to go hog wild on the P-40N there are a number of after market products. I built it OOB and used Aero Master decals.
I must be missing something here or it might be your criteria for determining someone's character is unique, not that I find anything wrong with that approach.
It is a cleanly built model. Am I correct in assuming that is a Pacific scheme.
Well done.
I could not find anything about him but I figured with nose art like this, he must have a sense of humor. You have to also allow for the fact he was probably only 21 or 22 and in a very inhospitable place with the feeling he might not see 23.
Well said.
It's 49th Fighter Group, New Guinea, 1943, Al.
I believe it was Pac. Now that this is done I have an Amtech on in the stash I may just look closer at.
Well done again ! They are a couple pretty P-40's for sure. I've never done a Mauve kit, but if it looks this good OOB, it may be worth looking into. Thanks, Frank.
Nice P-40s Frank. The Mauve P-40 is an excellent kit. I built one some years back using a "True Details" cockpit & wheels. Eduard re-released this kit as a "Profi-pack" deal with a bunch of resin & photoetch. The Mauve P-40 is a helluva lot easier to put together than the Hasegawa offering.
Hi, Nice job on the kit. It looks like the AMT kit. The cowling, landing gear legs (oleo area), round exhausts, cowling panels and deep panel lines are all associated with the AMT kit. Accurate kits, the plastic is a bit soft and those cowl panels are tricky. With care it can be really well done, as you have.
Mike,
These are both Mauve kits. I have done an AMT kit before and I agree they are OK also.
Both of these are very nice models, Frank, and I think your method of assessing someone's character works just fine!
beautiful model frank
