STUKA! Airfix's classic 1/24th scale kit

February 29, 2020 · in Aviation · · 8 · 3K

I've just added the final touches to 's classic 1/24th scale B-2. I've finished it as a machine from 3/St.G2 based in Northern France, August 1940.

A great kit to build, and despite its age it's crammed full of detail, has some lovely surface detail and goes together really well. What you see here is as it comes in the box, with the only additions being some Eduard belts and a bit of extra plumbing in and around the engine.

All paints were Xtracolour enamels.

Best regards,
Tom

  1. This brings back fond memories from my very early teen years. Must have been around 11 when I got this kit, can’t remember how it came to my hands (rather by whom) but I build it in the desert decal option and had it until leaving my parentes house. It’s a great kit indeed, and you did a good job with yours. Thanks for posting

  2. That looks fantastic. Just like it came off the production line as indeed your model has. I doubt it stayed this clean for very long in the summer of 1940. Great job! Paul

  3. Excellent. I'd forgotten just how many 1/24 kits Aifix beought out back then.

  4. Well done Thomas, lots of nice detail to view. I like it.

  5. Great job! I remember a magazine, Scale Modeler doing a review of this kit so long ago.

  6. 🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
Very nice clean work on this model Thomas. The model has a years of history, but still builds to a very good one.

  7. Nice clean build - looks great! in 1/32 that's a big monster, isn't it?!

  8. Lovely paint work and finish, Thomas, particularly in the big scale!
