Airfix 1/72 MIG-15
My fourth monthly ‘staying-at-home, no-frills, stash-reduction, build and paint' project--June edition. A nice little kit that was one of Airfix's new generation. Apparently it received mixed reviews because the fuselage is a little short and stubby compared to the real thing. One online discussion board indicated that it hasn't been reissued since the first run. Otherwise the kit is right in line with the early new Airfix kits. Nice but modest cockpit detailing. The recessed panel lines are a little thick and inconsistent in places. The fit was well done, needing an absolute minimum amount of filling and sanding. I finished it with various shades of Xtreme Metals aluminium. I wish I had spent more time smoothing the surfaces before painting though. It will be a nice companion to the Airfix 1:72 F-86 already on my shelf.
What a magnificent looking MiG-15 ! You finished it just in time to start our Korean War GB.

A great looking MiG-15, Dennis! Nice work!
Your Mig-15 looks great, Dennis!
What a sweet little kit!
I understand (and support) all comments for dimensional accuracies etc, believing that a new kit has no excuse of being depicted inaccurately, especially nowadays.
Having said all that, I still find pleasure to build such kits; they look the planes they are supposed to represent anyway!
Well done!
Great build.
Painting and weathering looks perfect.
Great-looking Mig, despite Airfix's unfortunate panel gouges! That's the one thing that has made me shy away from any new Airfix kits...
Looks like another Airfix gem, nice work!
Excellent build of a fun kit. The accuracy police will have a field day with this kit however, its my belief that its more for younger hands to get to know the hobby. That didn't stop me from building my kit. Some kits can be done for just having fun.
Two thumbs up Dennis.
