Eduard Butcher Bird

Hello all, here's my A-3 in . It's from the Royal Class release so it came with some nice resin wheels. It also came with 14 decal options which is obviously not enough so I went with some aftermarket jobbies from . They represent a 6./JG1 aircraft in late spring 1942. JG1 had so many great schemes on the Fw 190!

After the drawn out process that was my last build, I probably rushed this one a little. There's a couple of places where the fit is not as good as it should be, but these were self inflicted. The kit is great, excellent fit and amazing surface detail.
I managed to snap the tail wheel off in the late stages of the build, so I drilled out both pieces and reinforced them with a small piece of wire. I took the opportunity to turn the tail wheel off to one side a bit. It's subtle but I think it looks good.
A replacement canopy was also required after the first one suffered a mischief. I used fine fishing line for the antenna and painted it XF 56 metallic grey. In hindsight it is too thick, it looks a bit like a length of rope or something. Apart from that it went largely to plan and was a very enjoyable build. I am pleased with the result.
I used my spray booth for the photos and the light has messed with the colours a bit, but you get the idea.

Thanks for checking it out.
