Airfix 1/72 Gloster Meteor FR.9 Club Edition
A nice, if tricky little kit.
The tolerances are very tight and not being too precise with the placement of some of the early parts makes it a little harder further down the line.
In saying that it goes together well and builds up nicely.
Primed with Tamiya Neutral Grey,
Painted with Colourcoats Dark Sea Grey, Dark Green and PRU Blue, Tamiya Nato Black, Flat Aluminium, Flat White and Rubber Black.
Washes used were Citadel Seraphim Sepia, Nuln Oil and Agrax Earthshade, Flory Dark Dirt, Lifecolor Road Dust.
Oils used from Windsor & Newton.
Finished with Windsor & Newton Satin Varnish.
Thanks for looking,
Cheers,
Alistair
Nice to see a completed well done example of the new Airfix kit. Were those white intakes done with masking or a decal? If it was masking, that's one tough job.
The intakes were masked and carefully sprayed with white.
I cut some 0.7mm strips of tape on my Infini Cutting Board and then used ordinary tape to cover up the rest of the bits that might have caught some overspray
Wow, very nice build with a beautiful camouflage! I think the FR9 version is the nicest Meteor with its long nose. I do hope Airfix will release it for everyone eventually.
Thanks very much,
I think they will release it in the future but with different markings.
Great looking Meteor! That white trim really sets it off nicely. Well done!
Thanks very much Greg
That's some very nice work, @alistairfgauld, and a really good result. Nice to see what this new kit looks like.
Due to the wonders of CAD, we're all having to learn that hamfisted modeling will now get you sent to your room without supper. 🙂
Thanks Tom,
It certainly means that my slap some glue on it and squeeze until it gives in may have to be consigned to the past.
Another superb result, Alistair!
I go with Greg for the nice white trim.
Well done!
Thanks very much Spiros.
