80th anniversary BuildRevell 1/72nd Lancaster BIII special, 617 Sqd. Op. Chastise

Oh my... was this a bit of a bas*ard to build... From missing part to having to reshape the entire wing sections in order to make it fit, i totally underestimated this kit, and the length of time it would take to make it perfect. This led to me rushing the end of it in order to get the video out for youtube by the 17th May. I had originally intended to get it out for just before midnight on the 16th, so it ran over into the 17th, but i ended up working through the night to get the airbrushing and decals finished (Thanks to everyone who kept me company on the live stream!) and couldnt get the editing done in time, so i opted for the 17th instead.

My sleep pattern is still recovering!

Overall, im a bit upset its not as good as it could/should have been, and of course, there has been a little artistic licence involved, as there usually is with all models, but im not too disappointed with it, and its still taking pride of place on my display shelf, and not relegated to the studio!

  1. Whatever problems you had are not visible to me! Beautiful Lancaster.

  2. Looks good to me! Well done.

  3. Looks perfect from here as well, @fow_models

  4. I remember getting the original Airfix kit for Christmas back in 1959 when it first came out. I can’t remember what happened to it, but I don’t suppose it was anywhere as good as your Revell version.
