1/48 Airfix Spitfire Mk. XIVe
I received this kit as the lucky winner of the April 2019 random drawing . I wanted to do a full span Spitfire and the decal options in the kit were for clipped wing versions. I figured some aftermarket company would release the markings I was looking for. Well 4 years later DKdecals of the Czech Republic finally did. They came out with a set for the 2nd Tactical Air Force that includes markings for 13 planes. This prompted me to move this kit to the top of the pile.
The Airfix kit is a good one and I had no problems with the build. Beside the DK decals the other aftermarket items used were a Quickboost gyroscopic gun sight, Eduard seatbelts and cockpit hatch.
The model represents a Spitfire from No. 41 Sqn.,B118 Celle, Germany 1945

A very attractive Spitfire model Dale.
Your handling of the camouflage is well shown as well as your subtle weathering.
Looks beautiful Dale. Airfix kits have been pretty good recently. You definitely did a wonderful job on yours.
Lovely Spit and some really nice weathering - great build!
Well done, that's a cool looking Spitfire! I did the Academy Mk XIVc razorback a few years back before the Airfix came along.
