A tale about a tail.

January 14, 2024 · in Aviation · · 19 · 317

1/48 Messerschmitt Me109G-6. Htm Franz Dorr, CO of 111/JG5, Gossen, Norway. May 1945.

This one was started years ago when I realised I didn't have the right tail section for the version I was doing. I had a G-14 short tail. Needed the late version G-6 high tail. I was able to finish it this week when I removed said incorrect tail, and added the right one from spares from an Eduard G-6. The fit was very close, so not alot of sanding required. Thank you Eduard for those spares that come with every build. Fast build cause most of it was already done.

And now it's time to. ... high tail it outa here. Boom Boom... 🀭

  11. Great save, Paul, and terrific finish. Whenever a champ iModeler mentions a pilot's name, I try to find some biographical info. One good source for Luftwaffe pilots is: https://aircrewremembered.com/KrackerDatabase/ be sure to click Contains Word instead of Exact Match for best result.
