Revell Douglas P-70 Night Fighter
Hello modeler friends, continuing my task to find and assemble the old kits that my father and I assembled in the past, (the first one I assembled was the Nakagima Gekko that I posted some time ago) the time has come for this Douglas P-70. This old Revell kit, was sold here in Brazil in the 80's, as I've said before, was based on the original molds, as well as the art of the boxes and with translated instructions manual. The plastic was a little brittle, but with care the assembly went smoothly. The decals, believe me, were in good shape, so I was able to use them. I painted the model aluminum first, then did a pre shading with black, and then coats of black not too heavy, to maintain a certain apparent paint fading. Silver colored pencils used for fuselage and paint chipping wear, and black pastels over white for the exhaust stains. Models of this era had raised rivets and panel lines, so i make little sanding to simulate some weathering effect . There's the result, I hope you like it. What my father and I assembled together in the past has been lost over the time, it would be nice to see the comparison, but...

It's great to buy the models from your youth. I do so too but I do think they looked better when I was a kid... Way more time then! Yours is beautiful!

Paint looks excellent, it’s nice the decals were useable, aftermarket decals can cost more than the kit sometimes .
