Two old Revell box-scale kits
The vintage Revell B-47 and P6M box-scale kits, assembled as desk models. Simple builds, I only corrected some small shape issues (on the jet nacelles of the B-47) and struggled to make some parts fit. Just to show that old kits, these are almost 70 years old, can still be eye-catching 😉
Cheers,
François
Both looked like they were fun builds.
Indeed Dan, fun and relaxing! It's cool to be less obsessed by the details of our models at times 😉
@friga very nice François the P6M sure is pretty 🙂
Thanks a lot Cricket!
I liked the P6M so much I bought so thank you :). Just to show I can build aircraft too 😉
Great! When I see your cars and bikes, no doubt about your abilities to build aircrafts Cricket! 😉
Thank you again François, it’s either a misprint on the listing or it’s really tiny Either way it’s a pretty cool Aircraft. I also liked all the “X” planes, the 15 being my favorite
It's really tiny Cricket, wingspan is abt 20 cm... Prepare yourself for a lot of sanding & filling, the kit is really old and fit is far from nowadays standards. Anyway, the result can be pleasing and...tiny is beautiful 😉
Thanks is again 🙂
Great displays. It’s nice to see stuff like this still being built. Those stands are a space multiplier on display shelves too!
Thanks John!
Nicely done! I've done the P6M, a lot of filler and sanding.
Thanks Robert. Indeed, really a lot of sanding. Particularly on the trailing edges and around the jet exhausts, OMG... 😉
Very cool Francois (@friga). I love inflight models and I love building up old kits. You've done very well on these two oldies.
Both look excellent, François!
Thanks Carl & Spiros!
Excellent results on both, François @friga
Thanks John. Simple but enjoyable builds. Relaxing after more detailed kits 😉
Great job on these two beauties Francois, I like the way you blacked out the canopies.
I am also now focusing on vintage kits , I am currently working on an Airfix Sunderland that is the same age as me, 58 !
Thanks a lot Neil! Yes, I'm also a vintage kit fan 😉 It's so rewarding to upgrade those old kits, make them look almost as modern ones... They're indeed also bringing up memories from our childhood (I'm 59) 😉
Very nice, Francois @friga. When I was a little kid in the late ‘50’s and early ‘60’s, my Uncle Paul worked in marketing and sales for Revell and showered me with models at holiday time including the two you built here. You did them proud!
Thank you Eric! I like those vintage kits, particularly the Revell ones with their wonderful box arts! Many are still worth to build and can give a very rewarding result provided you take the time to complete them nicely. I just bough a few ship models from the late 50's: the USS Constitution and USS Kearsage, the CSS Alabama... The quality and detail of these kits is just amazing and up to today's standards.
Those three ships, especially the Alabama, are old school Revell’s finest and are just as excellent today as they were back when, like you commented, Francois.
Maybe that’s why no one has yet to best these with a new tool. The cost might not be worth the effort in this day and age.
Nicely done classic plastic! Display work is excellent also.
Thanks Greg! For the display I used some teak wood I had in my basement and bended a flat steel bar, sprayed with Tamiya TS-30 silver paint 😉
Easy and cheap...
