AmTech 1/48 P-40L

September 1, 2024 · in Aviation · · 10 · 177

A very nice kit by with resin nose depicting an aircraft serving in the 99th FS, 79th FG " airmen" in Italy during 1944. The aircraft was piloted by 1st Lt. Herman "Ace" Lawson.
Here is a comment that I received:

"There were two main props for the P-40D through the P-40N series. The first was used on the P-40D through the P-40K. The Curtiss Electric prop has a narrower chord with pointed tips. The P-40L, M, and N were equipped with a wider chord Curtiss Electric prop with rounder tips. No current company (any of the AMT kits or clones, Mauve or Hasegawa) supplies the correct prop for the P-40L/M or N."

  5. I'm a huge P-40 fan - have a bunch in the stash. This one is fantastic - love the desert scheme with the yellow wing stripes - I had not seen that scheme before. Nicely done as always.
