Kinetic and AMK: 1/48 Kfir C2

September 3, 2024 · in Aviation · · 12 · 273

I present here two Kfirs C2. The one is from (No. 861) and the other by (No. 874)
When Kinetic and AMK kits are compared, some points are worth mentioning;
AMK kit is better engineered and is easier to build than the Kinetics kit.

  1. Both models have finely engraved panel lines where the Kinetic kit has the panels and access hatches more refined.
  2. Drop tanks of the Kinetic kit cannot be used as they are not to scale.
  3. Cockpit features of both kits are basic, but are hardly noticed even when the model is presented with an open canopy.
  4. Decal quality of both kits is excellent with a slight edge to the Kinetic kit. AMK kit though, has additional stencils that appeared on some Kfirs.
  5. The fit of parts is very good. However, the soft edges of the Kinetic kit parts require putty work to eliminate seamlines.
  6. Engine intakes are difficult to attach properly in both kits. Solution: Deviate from the instructions and attach the intakes to the separated fuselage halves.
  7. The same process can be applied to the nose cone to ensure a smooth attachment.
  8. Wind screen part of the Kinetic kit is problematic.

  1. More Delta goodness, Rafi! Nice work. I have an AMK kit in the stash to be built soon. I actually saw a Kfir flying over our beach at Fort Morgan, Alabama a couple of months ago. It was operated by a civilian adversary/threat contractor.

  2. A fantastic pair, each one being excellent in its own manner, Rafi!
    Congratulations!

  3. A beautiful set of Kfirs, Rafi @blackmopane
    Well done.

  4. Yep - those a beauties! Paint and weathering are fantastic. I never noticed that blue/green shade of the Israeli missiles (Python 3's ?) - what color is that? Are they always that color or is that just an option?

  5. That is a pair of fine looking fighters. Thanks for the brief on the two kits as well - Cheers

  6. Great results yet again Rafi, I think 874 was the only Kfir to score an air to air victory?
