Special Hobby 1/48 SMB-2 Super Mystère IDF
The Sa'ar (Storm) was an Israeli development of the French SMB-2 through the instalment of a J-52 engine instead of the original Atar engine. The upgrade led to improvements in load capacity and range.
Special Hobby's Sa'ar is a highly detailed model with nicely engraved and raised panel lines. Yet the fit of parts is poor notably in the assembly of fuselage sections and wing roots.
Another beauty! I'm a big fan of the "French Super Sabre." Probably because the Hun was one my dad flew.
Thank you Greg!
The magic of aviation in childhood!
Really awesome build, Rafi @blackmopane
That ejection seat looks like a real one.
Thank you, John.
What a wonderful result, Rafi! Excellent painting and weathering as always!
Had no idea that Israelis re-engined the Super Mystere as well: what an improvement it was!
Thank you, Spiros!
Nice build and great finish. The Super Mystere was a nice looking jet.
Thank you Mike.
I have one in my stash so seeing what you achieved is inspiring. Any more tips you can share will be appreciated.
Thank you, Marcello.
I recently bought another kit (for the early IDF scheme.) There are no lessons from the first build and no shortcuts. Prepare for a lot of putty work and remember that this is a tail heavy model.
