Top notch! Great build, love the paintwork on this thunderbolt
Thanks David. Much appreciated.
Great job, David.
Thank you Gary.
Very nice paintwork.
What decals did you use?
Hi Tom,
Thanks for the endorsement. I used the set from Kitsworld.
That’s a real beauty. Show stopping finish.
Thanks Matt much appreciated.
Beautifully done David!
Thanks Butch. Your comments are very much appreciated.
Love it! I did not realize the scheme on the upper wing was that complex.
Thank you Jeff. Yes, they painted over the invasion stripes post D-Day.
Very sharp work especially the camo scheme.
Hey Dale
Thanks a bunch for having a look and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.
Excellent result, David @totalize
The chosen scheme looks really great.
Hi John,
Thanks a bunch for having a look and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated.
Fantastic job and really great result, David!
Always value your comments Spiros. Thank you.
Very nicely built model , looks great. Paint is very good.
Thank you Jay. Your comment is most appreciated.
The Tamiya kit is a real winner and you have made the most of it. Great work with the paint and the markings are a lot of fun. The 56th FG had so many great looking planes with excellent markings for us model makers.
Indeed. Thanks your comments Walt they are much appreciated.
Top work on that Jug, David @totalize! 👏 Your paintwork is just superb! 🤩
That paint scheme is immense! One of the best P-47 posts on this site - and they're all pretty darn good.
Thanks so much Bob. Happy to share my work with you guys.
Excellent work all around. Paint and finish are as everyone has already said- exceptional. Great inspiration for the rest of us.
Thanks Mark. You guys are too kind.
Excellent build and paintwork on that fine kit.
Thanks Chas. Very much appreciated.
I entered in a build log on Aircraft.net and it came in third behind a Tempest and a P-38. Here's the link to the other aircraft.
First place. the Tempest. Second Place a P-38. Both are very nice models. Very clean no weathering.

That is a beauty of a P-47, and as others have already said, the paintwork is fantastic.
Thanks Greg. Very much appreciated.
That’s really nice, David. Natural metal undersides, good and accurate catch. Lots of guys reflexively paint this plane’s belly RAF medium sea grey.
Thanks John. Yes these Blocks of P-47's arrived in the ETO in all natural aluminum. The maintenance crews then painted them over in the RAF colours but leaving the undersides in all natural aluminum.
Natural metal underside and flaps up. It is more work to have those fit well in the up position, but that is where they belong unless taking off or landing, but it is hard to fight the temptation. Very nicely done camouflage scheme. I registered a heart and a lightbulb. The lightbulb is for clearing up the idea that under the engine can be painted, which I have seen in photos of other 56th F.G. aircraft, but it is widely accepted the underside is unpainted.
Thanks Russell. You insight and comments are much appreciated.
Should have noted.
Cockpit seat is from Ultracast
Wheels from ASK. 3D printed for the Miniart kit but they work well on Tamiya's kits too. Everything else is OOB. I had a set of brass gun barrels for the kit but the kit ones were just as nice so I used them.
Some of my references
The last picture is not of Button Nose but does show that the 56th FG, though rare, did use rocket tubes and bombs on ground attack missions.

Love anything from the 56th Fighter Group David especially when based at Boxted as it's my local airfield only 5 minutes cycle ride. Wonderful P-47.
Thanks Guy. Planning a trip to Europe later this year with my wife and 2 adult kids. We plan on staying in the UK for a few days.
