Toyota GT-One TS020, Tamiya, 1/24
Most major manufacturers have tried to win the famous Le Mans 24 hour sports car race held annually in France. Porsche have been the most successful, but the Japanese have tried their best. Toyota so nearly won in 1998, managing second place after a tyre blow-out towards the end of the race. Returning in 1999 with the latest version of their GT-One they tried again but again to no avail. So far, Mazda have been the only Japanese marque to have achieved sucess, with Toyota yet again failing at the last minute this year.
My good friend, Olivier Rive, (are you there, Olivier?) posted his version of this Tamiya kit a while ago, finishing his car as the number three car with Esso backing, so I've posted this as the number one car backed by Zent. The red and white colour scheme is, of course, the Marlboro cigarette livery, but, due to European advertising regulations, the Toyotas never carried the full Marlboro markings at Le Mans. This is yet another great Tamiya kit, fully living up to their reputation. Hope you like it and thanks for looking, George
You forget something, George?
...or are those pesky Chinese blocking your pics now? 🙁
More than likely!
Pictures that got lost on their way from China have been uploaded now... enjoy 🙂
Thanks, Martin.
splendid job George once again
Thank you, Bob.
Beautiful build!
Cheers, Robert.
Another very nice build! Looks like a jet with no wings - wait - there's a wing on the back end...
Ah, but it's to keep it on the ground, thanks for looking, Greg.
Another fantastic build out of the garage sir.
I do have a Toyota in the garage, but it's only a Corolla, not quite the same!
Nicely done, George...you have a way with those racing cars for sure. And thanks to Martin for the assistance as well.
Thanks, Craig, and thanks again to Martin as well.
Nice build George! Yet another iconic racing machine in the collection! I think this is probably my second favourite Le Mans car after the Sauber Merc.
It's certainly a "looker", I think the design has paved the way for the current hybrid cars, I wish Tamiya/Hasegawa would do a kit for the one of the latest cars...
I like it George.
Thank you, Jack.
Nice job George, it looks very fast just sitting still.
Definitely one of my favourites! Thanks for looking, Tom.
Well done George.
Cheers, Allan.
Great looking build-love the engine bay. Toyota almost did it this year at LeMans, only to break in the closing hours.
I think even the other teams felt sorry for Toyota this year, it must be their turn soon. Thanks for your kind comments, Bryan.
Again superb, love your flawless painting
