Eduard 1/48 Messerschmitt Bf110C
Shot down during the Battle of Britian, it was actually assigned to a bomber unit. KG55. Interesting history of a fighter operating in a bomber unit, and still getting shot down over England. Some references say it was an "E" variant with Rlm 74 only for the top colour. I went with the more likely 02/71/65. Hope you like.
I haven't seen one of these here for awhile. Great finishes. Dragon also do an excellent series of 1/48 110s, if anyone's interested in comparing manufacturers.
Yeah, I'd love to do one. The fujimi kit is still good too. I wouldn't do an eduard again. Too many tiny parts which I hated, cause I like to build fast, especially the exhausts. Too many to build, so little time. 🙂
That looks nice Paul. I have the Edward E version in my stash, has lots of little parts. Any problems or issues with their 110 series?
Thank you. No problems but I hated the engine exhausts. Some of the fiddly bits were very annoying, and I had to make my own antenna that went along the whole fuselage bottom. Not sure what you call that. The fujimi kit is way easier though has less detail. Not sure about the dragon kits etc. Never done one. I'd be happier doing another brand next time. Good luck with the E.
Great job, especially the challenging paint scheme; well done, sir!
Thank you Ralph. 🙂
Looks great! Nice paint scheme, and a clean-looking build and finish.
Thank you. 🙂
Looks fantastic, Paul. Challenging model too, you did a great job, and the scheme is beautifully done. Great job!
Thank you. Yes, it had it's moments where I wanted to forget the whole thing and do another fujimi kit. 🙂
Very nice indeed Paul. Beautiful mottling and weathering - Great to see - thank you
Thank you. Painting/weathering is my favourite part. 🙂
Paul, that is interesting that the plane "belonged" to a bomber unit. Zerstroyer units were considered an elite within the Luftwaffe, until reality set in during the B of B. Need escort fighters for the escort fighters. There was at least one specialist unit using 110s for pinpoint attacks on high value targets, the one with the England in a gunsight emblem,. Maybe the high command decided to use 110s as bombers, since they weren't doing all that well as day fighters, and they could carry a fairish load faster and with self defense capabilities. Spritelier tan a Heinkel 111!
Nicely done! As Rob pointed out, Dragon has a couple 1/48th 110s as well, and they have their points, too. Cs and Ds, IIRC.
Very true. 🙂 Yes, I'd be interested to do one of the dragon kits. Been looking at them alot lately. 🙂 Tempting. Thank you.
Excellent work.nice finish.
Thank you. 🙂
Beautifully done, sir...a nice job indeed.
Thanks so much. 🙂
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
Very nice work on a not very much seen subject.
The camouflage is very well done.
Thank you. I thought it would be nice to go a little different than the ones you see a bit. I loved the history of this one, and the Griffon emblen.:)
Really nice, Paul. The paint scheme looks great and very authentic. Well done !
Thank you. 🙂
Very nice. Weathering just to the right amount.
Thank you, I had it a little heavier, and toned it down. I think this is pretty close too. Thank you.
You seem to have got all those "little bits" together very well, Paul, and the end result looks great.
Thank you. 🙂 Ordeal over now. Lol.
From personal experience, I am not a fan of this kit, but you have done a very nice job with this, despite the bad case of the 'fiddlies' it has.
Thank you. 🙂 I agree with you. I won't ever do one again. So little time, so much to build. Lol.
