I’m a 40 and a bit year old Police Sergeant in Christchurch, New Zealand. Prior to this I served as a medic in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. I have 3 daughters, and I’ve been modelling since I was about 6 years old. I inherited my interest from spending time with my father in his model shed. I mainly do Armor, but will do whatever grabs my attention, as sometimes its good just to have a bit of fun.

“See you on the beach!”

Something I have always wanted to do is a D-Day US Navy LCM (Landing Craft Mechanized) but have always been worried about doing sea water. But when my local club said the group build was D-Day theme then it was time to conquer my 'fear of the wa[...]

Final resting place

Time for something COMPLETELY different. Felt like having a bit of a play with something I've always been fasinated by; sunken tank graveyards. Here I've attempted to show a 1/35th Japanese Type 97 medium tank sunken in shallow water off a Paci[...]

Storming the lines

This is the 1/35 Takom Mark IV Male WW1 Heavy Battle Tank depicted stuck in a trench system while the battle continues around it. The figures are Masterbox and ICM. I think the ICM figures are a brand to watch as they have interesting subjects a[...]

Hobbyboss 1/35 German PzkpfwII Ausf J (VK16.01)

This is a cool wee kit of a limited production tank of which only about 16 saw war service, and mostly against the Russians. It's very chunky considering it's a 'small' tank. I also used (for the first time) a foldable photo booth that I got off[...]

Frosty reception

This was another reason why I need to stop looking at Aliexpress and eBay. I go for a browse, see something I wasn't looking for, and this is what happens. I spotted a kit that consisted a child with a wooden gun and snowman and then the rest f[...]

French Somua S35 – Battle of France, May 1940

An area of WW2 modeling I havent done before is French. Always been keen to do some of their tanks as they are always a bit clunky / unusual looking. This Somua was actuually really fun to build and has quite a cool look about it once complete. [...]

Star wars ‘Battle of Hoth’

Anyone who has seen the 2nd Star Wars movie "The Empire Strikes Back" will know this iconic scene. Here I have made it using the Bandai 1/144 scale Snow Speeer and At-At Walker. If you havent made a Bandi kit, do yourself a favour and try it. Th[...]

IBG 1/35 Quad Bofors anti-aircraft gun tractor

My 2nd (and less stressful) IBG build. This kit went togerher very nicely compared to the Otter kit. This is a good size truck and will go nicely with the Bronco Bofor anti-aircraft gun kit when I finally get it. The biggest let down is that all[...]

IBG 1/35 Otter light reconnaissance car

This was my first time making a kit from IBG, and nearly my last! Although I got there in the end, the molding of the kit was slightly warped so when you came to putting the body together you needed 5 pairs of hands and you tongue sticking out t[...]

Casualty Evacuation

My last post was a Tamiya French Armoured carrier UE done in German markings, and again ive converted a 2nd one into captured German markings for a field ambulance. Its a great simple wee kit that is very versatile. The figures are a mix of Mast[...]
