I’m a 40 and a bit year old Police Sergeant in Christchurch, New Zealand. Prior to this I served as a medic in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. I have 3 daughters, and I’ve been modelling since I was about 6 years old. I inherited my interest from spending time with my father in his model shed. I mainly do Armor, but will do whatever grabs my attention, as sometimes its good just to have a bit of fun.

1/35 Border Models Russian T-34E with ‘screened’ armour

This is a kit I had plans of doing in a diorama but due to a couple of issues, I didn't bother. The tank itself is quite different looking due to its extra 'screened' armour on the Hull, turret, as well as the skirting over the wheels. This was [...]

Abandoned monster

This is the 1/48 Hobbyboss Russian KV-2 'big turret' and the Tamiya Panzer IV. This is my first 1/48 diorama. Unfortunately there isn't a lot of figure selection out there but these Tamiya German figures are pretty good, and help to tell the st[...]

Normandy ‘Piggy-back’ ride

This is the 1/48 Tamiya U.S. Army 2.5 ton 6x6 Cargo Truck, and the Mister Craft 1/48 Piper Cub. The model deplicts the transportation of Piper Cubs in the days following the D-day landings as they were brought off the large landing ships. The T[...]

“where’s that chinook?! “

This is 3 Gecko Models kits combined to make a diorama where I really wanted to capture the urgency of a medivac after an IED ambush. Overall the British Army ATMP vehicle is an excellent kit with plenty of detail, if not a bit fiddly in parts. [...]

When old modeler’s retire

These are photos of my fathers collection in his 'man cave' out the back of his garage. He has been modeling since he was young and would have made his first kit back in the 1950s. He has finally decided that its time for his collection to go, a[...]

1/35 Academy ‘Stug IV’

This is the Academy Stug IV. Pretty simple kit, but at 1/2 the price of other similar kits on the market its pretty good. Went together well and wnen it's all finished it definitely looks like it's ready for action. I've always wanted to do a Ge[...]

Panda 1/35 ‘Husky, mine detection vehicle’

The Husky is mine detection vehicle used by the United States Army, that I never knew existed until I stumbled over this kit from Panda while on Ebay. I had never heard of Panda kits so wasn't sure what I was gonna get. Was very happy with it, i[...]

1/35 Trumpeter ‘SAM6 Launcher’

I don't really do Modern Russian stuff, not sure why?, just never really caught my attention. However this did, and just after I ordered it, my IPMS club announced our group build for the year was 'Russian', so excellent timing. I'm happy with t[...]

“der Angriff!”

This is an experiment I've been wanting to try for a while, making an explosion with an LED bulb and cotton wool. I'm not as happy with it as I'd hoped, but it works, so I'll go with that. Who knew fluffing up and spraying cotton wool would be s[...]

ICM 1/35 Chernobyl firetruck

This is yet another eBay find that I wasn't expecting while looking for something else. I didnt even know the kit existed. I quite enjoyed this build as I usually do military stuff that's green or gray, so something a bit brighter (in colour, n[...]
