I'm a mechanical engineer by trade, working in the automotive manufacturing sector for a company known globally. This modelling hobby is one of my more stress-free creative outlets, which rewards my love of building and crafting, as well as my curiosity to learn the history and background that can be told about each model subject.
My interests are across the board (ships, cars, planes, motorcycles, etc), but to limit my stash, I've tried to keep my choices to US subjects; 1:48 planes and 1:700 for ships, full hull display. Additional preferences include 1/24 cars, and 1/12 motorcycles.
Typically I post builds as I finish them, but I have many older builds that I may get around to sharing at some point as well.
Good day, and welcome.. Today I've simultaneously completed two builds. The first, this P-36A, has been built using what is one of the few P-36 kits available in 1/48 scale (for now), that is Hobbycraft's boxing from the 1990's. The kit [...]
While browsing the LHS a few months back, I came across two Hobbycraft T-33A's. One was a later variant with the integrated wing fuel tanks, but the other was an early version with the drop tanks hung below the wings, just like an F-80. In [...]
This next completed build has been a work in progress for many months. The kit itself is the "Reno Racer" version of Monogram's venerable T-6 Texan. I found this kit for $6, and a set of Aeromaster decals for just a bit more, [...]
I've finally completed this kit after a long period of in-process limbo. But first I must briefly explain how this kit came to be on my work bench in the first place. It all started when I purchased a second-hand Hasegawa P-47D, mainly due [...]
This post will be quick and dirty, just like this build. The kit itself is very simple, as is the airframe. It does have a nice petite coke-bottle shape that most can appreciate, and the model itself scream petite when you pick it up. It [...]
This kit was one of those rare kits that I bought on a whim, and successfully completed without ever "putting it up". It has been the focus of my efforts for the last 6 weeks or so, off and on. The kit itself is an Italeri boxing [...]
Up next off the bench was this Unmanned Aerial Vehicle, which is used by a number of nations world-wide. I must admit, I am not particularly drawn to this vehicle or it's type, however, given its prevalence and admitted capabilities, I [...]
Last one for today, this is Revell's 1/72 SR-71. I modelled this one wheels-up on an old stand I had in the parts bin. I typically do not build 1/72, so having this one on a stand apart from my 1/48's was more appropriate. Also, I wanted [...]
Next up is this Italeri re-pop of Testor's old F-117A. This kit's boxing provided decals for a Ghost Grey version of the Nighthawk that has been often seen about in the jet's official post-retirement age. I initially thought that it would [...]
With some time off work this week, I'm hoping to get caught up with a few older builds, starting with this Ok-ish Revell kit. This usually retails for just a bit over $20 USD, which is a pretty good deal in spite of the cumbersome build. [...]
