Westland Whirlwind Mk.1

Kit: 1/32 Special Hobby This is a great kit. It’s not for beginners and there are many challenges but the result is an impressively large and detailed aircraft model. The landing gear gave me fits - it is very fiddly and fragile but it [...]

1/32 Special Hobby Westland Whirlwind Mk.1

This is 1/32 Special Hobby Westland Whirlwind Mk.1 with the markings of P6985 HE-J No 263 squadron RAF in Exeter air base March 1941. I have build this OOB except for Eduard seat belts and CMK wheels set. I have used Gunze Sangyo acrylics [...]

Whirlwind!

I built this kit in 1996 and discovered photos I took in 2019. The kit in 1/48 scale was a combination of a resin aftermarket fuselage and wings combined with the detail parts of the Cooper kit. The plane represents an aircraft that [...]

And now for something a little different…..

This started out as a 1/72 Airfix Westland "Whirlwind". A few cuts, a few added pieces, a few cold beers, and here we are. I forgot to ad, a few squirts of rattle can aluminum. No detail, no reference, nothing but FUN !

Classic Airframes 1/48 Westland Whirlwind Mk. I

This is my Classic Airframes Whirlwind I, from the 2003 re-release of the Classic Airframes kit. The Westland Whirlwind was, at the time of its initial appearance, one of the most advanced fighter aircraft ever built. Unfortunately, it [...]
