1/48 F-8E Crusader
Robert Bausch's nice Crusader posted a few days back inspired me to post mine. We did the exact same thing, Esci decals on a Monogram Crusader. I added a lot of stencils too, from an old Microscale F-8 sheet. I remember shortening the main l/g and extending the nose gear to improve the plane's sit. I also added a KMC resin cockpit to this one that really brought it to life.
Great minds think alike Robert!
John,
Beautiful job on your Monogram F-8, and I agree, very interesting that we did the same thing. What a great airplane, and what a great kit!
Thanks Robert! I have at least 3 more in the stash. Waiting...
Nice looking Crusader John. Duplicate markings just may mean that you and Robert are the same person. After all we've never seen you together.. Have we...hmm.. 😉
The Crusader Twins! Sounds like a pro-wrestling duo.
Beautiful "Gunfighter", John...nicely done.
Thanks Craig!
John, this is a beautiful build of my favorite jet. Though the Hasegawa kit is more detailed, your kit proves Monogram kit can be made into a real showpiece. I've built two Monogram Crusaders, and have a third on the bench. I used the same VF-162 markings on one of my Hasegawa Crusaders, finished as a Mig-killer flown by VF-162's commanding officer, CMDR Richard Bellinger.
Thanks Drew! I have a Hasegawa "J" that needs to be built. So many kits, so little time.
Really nice jet! That Monogram kit was always a fun kit to build!
Thanks Ramon. Looks like we may have a full squadron posted by the end of the day!
The Crusader is certainly an attractive plane to model, and this one's good.
Yes it is George, it's probably my favorite jet.
John,
Outstanding. I also like the Crusader and enjoy looking at models of this airplane. Yours is beautiful
