Another entry to the “just-missed-it” category. Looks the part.
Didn’t get as far along as the Ascender, due to the end of hostilities.
The Swedes did better with their Saab J-19.

I can just see this sitting at Freeman Field on Armed Forces Day, 1945.

Think you are relating to the Saab J 21 pusher which actually spent a few years in service. The Saab J 19 (looking very similar to a Zero) never left the drawing board though…
