Pilatus PC 6 1/32 Scale Scratch build

October 23, 2017 · in Aviation · · 15 · 2.2K

The end is getting closer... I have started to paint the aircraft, It will be a model of a PC 6 that does geophysical surveying, the company, called NRG has its HO here in Cape Town, and they were kind enough to send me some walk around pictures of their aircraft. The funny thing is that when I left Lubumbashi in the DRC I actually saw this aircraft standing on the apron...how cool is that.

I am going to vacuform the canopy tomorrow and hopefully is will fit without a hitch, then I am going to do some light washes and weathering, add the doors, add the flaps and linkages and some final work and then I should be at home base.

Needless to say I went through 2 rolls of masking tape and that I have arms like a body builder from all the sanding.

Hope you enjoy the pics

Marc

  1. Marc this is top notch and build totally from scratch! My vote for a winner on Imodeler.

  2. Can't wait to see her all suited up! When I saw the headline shot I thought you might be done, but it was all a tease again! Great work Marc.

  3. Excellent job Marc, been following this build since the beginning! Thanks for sharing, Michel.

  4. Great job, my friend...you gonna put all those doo-dads under the wing(s) or not?

  5. Mac - every time I see this plane, my opinion of your skills grow even bigger! This is superb work. I've always liked the Pilatus after I saw videos of them taking off & landing ... all in about 2 meters! (Just kidding; I don't know what their take-off & landing distance is actually, but it's probably the closest thing to having your own Harrier "Jump Jet!")

As my German friends would say, "Ausgeseichnet!" (Please excuse any German misspelling I may type!)

  6. Hey Jeff, Its guys like you and everyone on i Modeler that keeps me going and pushing my abilities to the limit. I have learned so much with this build, its not perfect in the least, but I will keep trying to get it perfect, thanks for the comment.

  7. Keep at it, Marc, I think adding the doo dahs is a good idea, but only if you enjoy it.
