McDonnell F-15 Eagle – Academy 1/144

February 5, 2018 · in Aviation · · 7 · 2.6K

First build of the year, which was completely accidental. While cleaning out a cabinet in the garage, I came across this kit under a pile of old magazines. I have no idea where it came from or why I had it, but I'm a s****r for orphaned airplanes, so I figured I'd finish it. The wings had been glued together, so the rest of the assembly went pretty quickly. The base color is Model Master Aggressor Gray while the camo pattern was hand brushed in Tamiya XF66 Gray. Applying the decals took the most time - the entire sheet was about the size of a large postage stamp and my lighted magnifier was an absolute must. Still have a headache from that! The Corsair was added for size comparison.

The model represents an aircraft of the 67th Fighter Squadron, 18th Wing at Kadena Airbase in Japan.

All in all, it was a fun build, even though it's not my usual genre or scale.

  3. Hello Jaime,
Amazing what some people can do in this 1/144 scale.

  4. Amazing work, Jaime, especially in that scale. Maybe it was a free gift with one of those magazines?

  5. Great little Eagle, Jaime!
