South African Nationals 2018: Rotorcraft, Ships and Sci Fi
This article is part of a series:
These categories had the fewest entries. The model of HMS Nelson is 1/350 scale and was built by master model builder Tony Collins but was not entered in the Nationals and only put on display. Sci fi was dominated by Star Wars figures and spacecraft. The Mad Max style Me 109 vehicle is 1/72 scale. The shields on the Viking longboat was hand painted. The Hind gunship is 1/35 scale and came 2nd in the Rotorcraft class.
Another spectacular array of entries...thanks again for the pics.
Great photo review, Morne. The HMS Nelson looks spectacular! The Viking longboat is outstanding as well.
The HMS Nelson is in a league of its own. The intricate details is absolutely stunning.
The Nelson is impressive, along with the Viking long boat. I do like the U-Boats also. The Mad Max 109 is cool!
Thanks for sharing these, Morne. What kit is the K-car built from? The Heller 1/48 Allouette is impossible to find, at least here in the US.
Hi John, I don't know unfortunately what kit it is.
Thanks for all these postings from Port Elizabeth, I've enjoyed looking at them all. Maybe some categories didn't have the quantity but they certainly had the quality.
Hi George. Thanks for the comment. Must agree that the quality at every Nationals seem to improve so competition out there is quite stiff.
