Here is my interpretation of a meeting between the SAS and the LRDG! It uses the Tamiya1/35 scale kits and was really a vehicle for me to try my hand at modeling desert terrain. Comments welcome as always!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that the LRDG became the SAS.
Really nice diorama - all elements of equal quality and a good story is evident. One can almost write the dialogue (not that it could be said here! 🙂 )
Very nice desert dio! Inspiring for one of my personal future projects! Thanks for sharing, Derek!
Thank you and my pleasure!
Great job Derek, looks very nice.
I have the same two kits in the stash for a similar dio later.
Thank you, I look forward to seeing yours!
That is a beatiful job!
Thanks.
Well done Derek, I think you captured the moment quite well. I like it.
Thanks Tom.
Good lookin wee dio. And two crakin kits of old.
Thank you Anthony!
Yep...I like it, too. Good work...you nailed the environment.
Thanks Craig, I'm glad you like it!
Just fabulous fantastic dio and models. WOW!
Thank you Paul
Very nice, Derek, and good attention to the scale of the sand/stones.
Thanks Rob.
Wow!
Cheers George!
'Try your hand?' - looks like you've been perfecting that desert landscape for years. Hugely impressive, Derek.
Thank you David, it's only the 3rd diorama I've built, AK's Diorama FAQ was very useful in giving me the inspiration!
That's an impressive diorama! It looks like it could come to life at any moment.
Thank you Richard!
Like the real thing. Very nice.
Thank you David!
Very impressive!
Thank you John!

I'm going to have to go and look that up Tom, I have no idea at the moment! Thank you for your kind words!
According to Wiki the LRDG remained independent from the SAS until it was disbanded in '45.
Beautiful work - I think you've got "desert" down pat! Everything else looks awesome also...
Thank you Greg!
Great desert diorama!
Thank you Robert
Love the colors and how well everything coalesced into a very cohesive vignette.
Thanks George, much appreciated!
Impressive. Lot of skills used. How much modding on the figures was necessary, are they market sold? I love that guy shoveling.
Thank you for your kind words! The figures are basically out of the box, they came with the Tamiya LRDG kit but I think they are MB figures.
