1/48 Special Hobby Meridionali Ro.57 Prototype
I wanted to do the prototype because I liked the "poached egg" scheme as opposed to the standard green and grey of the production planes. As produced, the Special Hobby kit represents an Ro.57 bis, so modification needed to be done. These included filling the nose gun ports, correcting the props and spinners, changing the main wheel hubs and fabricating the tail wheel well and doors. Canopy slide rails were also added.
Very, very cool Dale. I wasn't even aware of this kit in its original form
Thanks George. The kit has been around for quite awhile, but is getting hard to find as I believe it's OOP.
Fine lookin' aircraft, Dale. I'm with you, this camo scheme is much more interesting than the standard.
Glad you like it, the "poached egg" schemes are always fun to do!
Excellent work here Dale ! This looks fantastic ! You really nailed that paint scheme.
How hard of a build was it ? If you didn't have to make all of the changes and were to build it out of the box ...
Thanks and "liked".
Thanks Louis. It's not a terribly difficult build as far a limited run kits go. Parts fit is actually good, but putty, sanding and re-scribing are necessary.
Yep...ya done good on that paint scheme - I like it ! 🙂
Thanks very much Craig!
Dale, the paint scheme alone makes it worth building, it’s very well painted indeed, spot on!
I gotta try this eye catching scheme in a more “convencional” kit, like Italeri Saetta or something
Thanks Pedro. Early MC 202's also wore this scheme.
Nice work, Dale. That’s an attractive plane that I know almost nothing about. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks John.
Very nice! Love the scheme, and you pulled it off really well.
Thanks Greg!
