Special Ops Sharks Teeth A-1J Skyraider.

February 23, 2019 · in Aviation · · 18 · 2.1K

This is the 1/48th scale Douglas A-1J . I added a etched seat harness and a QuickBoost resin Canopy Actuator Cover. The model was painted with Hannants Xtracrylix colours and weathered with artist gouache. The decals are Iliad Design Sheet 48019. Special Ops Skyraiders. The bomb fuse wires are knitting elastane. I made this model a few years back. As you can see, I made it in sections and assembled them after painting.

  3. Top notch build. I wish every kit could be assembled after paint.

    • Thank you Matt.
It makes life a lot easier when painting in sub assemblies.
The Navy version from Tamiya was released in 1998. This version came along two years later. I've made a total of five now.

  4. Great detail on this SPAD! Thanks for posting Julian!

  5. Very very nice, I love the SEA camouflage on the SPAD. I still have the navy version of this kit in the stash, I wonder if it can be built into one of these later versions?

    • Thank you Pedro, I'm glad you like it.
There are differences with the two kits, but I can't recall what they are. I think It's the seat and ordinance, and of course the decal sheet.
