Airfix 1/72 Ju 87B-1 Stuka

May 19, 2019 · in Aviation · · 11 · 5.1K

Here is my Ju 87B-1, kit #A03087, my first model completed this year.

Eduard PE Interior, 73-543; Canopy mask CX 436.

Rear gunner's MG 15 is a resin and brass Eduard “Brassin” item.

Kit pilot's canopy was separated from the stationary center section. Pilot's hood replaced with a vac item from Squadron and slid open.

Uschi elastic line used for the aerial wire.

Camouflage from AK Real Color for the RLM 65 undersides and RLM 70 Black-Green. RLM 71 was mixed from Tamiya Acrylics, post-shaded with AK RC RLM 71. Yellow stripe on spinner was sprayed with Tamiya acrylic, them masked with Tamiya tape before spraying RLM 70. I found that a 22mm outer-diameter circle, it matched arc needed to mask the stripe.

Decals are a mix of Xtradecal and the kit's markings.

Kit pitot was replaced with a brass rod.

Paint chips along wings and walkways is from a sharpened Prismacolor silver pencil (argent metallique).

Final flat coat is Windsor & Newton Galleria Acrylic Matt medium, thinned with Vallejo airbrush cleaner.
