1/48 Airfix Hunter F.6

September 13, 2019 · in Aviation · · 12 · 2.4K

Just completed!

New Hunter F6 with Xtradecals for a Hunter attached to Tactical Weapons Unit circa 1979.

Additional extras are the pilot from PJ Productions and the Master pitot tube. I also pinched some drop tanks from the Hunter (thanks Kev!). A great kit and straightforward build and with the many varied paint schemes that were used on the Hunter and widespread use by many nations, a great modelling choice!

  1. Really like the colour scheme. Sets off the quality build very well.

  2. Very slick looking aircraft. Love the scheme

  3. Looks surgically sharp in every aspect.

  4. Yeah...what they said, Darren - (and it looks like you employed one of those 32nd Tamiya display stands) - 🙂

  5. Very nice work. The hunter was one of the most beautiful jet aircraft ever On a par with the spitfire, and oh so British !

Belgium flew them too and after retirement some ended up in a metal recycling place near Oostende. We cycled over there as kids on an adventure quest and asked the owner of the junkyard if we could scrounge around and pull plates off what was left of the cockpit and ejection seats. When aluminium prices increased in the late 70 ies they all were recycled.

History is not always on the preservation side. But many are in Museums worldwide.

  6. A really colorful Hunter, and so happy to see it mounted in flight! Makes it look even more sleek.

  7. It's such a great kit and you have made the most of it.

  8. 🙂 … Greetings … 🙂 :
A true eye catcher Darren, simple … yet it screams for attention.

  9. Very clean painting and nice colors on that model, I like the "in flight" presentation.

  10. Hello Darren,
Stunning paint scheme, and yes, the extra fuel tanks are a must on this beautiful airplane.
