1/48 Hasegawa F-104C Starfighter "Snoopy Sniper" 1966

May 31, 2020 · in Aviation · · 6 · 1.8K

The 1/48 is finished. It was detailed with the Eduard photo etch set. For the scheme I am built it as a Viet Nam aircraft. The Caracal decals set (#CD48102) was used to complete the scheme with the tri-camouflage version of the “Nancy J / Snoopy Sniper” (Aircraft 56-0891) that was stationed at Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base in Thailand in 1966. The scheme was painted using Mission Models paints.

  1. Nice looking kit David, @davids_models. Well done. I'm of the mind to add one of these to my collection in the future. Toying between a Hasegawa or a Kinetic offering. Any thoughts between these two?

  2. David, nice Starfighter. I have always liked the Starfighter in the camo livery, gives it a more menacing look. I built the same kit, but went with a natural metal finish, but that was because I wanted a colorful scheme.

    Cheers,

    Scott

  3. That's a great Starfighter, David. Beautifully executed SEA camo, one of my favorites, since we flew SEA F-104Gs in Greece, a beloved and much missed picture.

  4. Nicely done, looks great in the camo. scheme!

  5. Nice Missile! I always thought the 104 seemed ill-fitted to the SEA scheme - I just couldn't figure out what value the 104 brought to that conflict, but guess it was what we had at the time to provide some CAP.

  6. This is a very nice build David.
My interest in planes started with these 104's.
Seen many of them passing over my house.
