Revell 1/48 Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9 ‘Dora’
Focke-Wulf Fw190D-9, Werknr. 220194, I./JG 2, Aachen, 1 January 1945
Flown by Feldwebel Werner Hohenberg
Received this kit for Christmas.
My second model after many years of pause in my modelling career.
I was really surprised when I openend the box and saw that the included sprue were not from Revell themselves but from Eduard.
I never worked with Eduard before so I was wondering what to expect.
Surprisingly it was a much better fit than what I was used to from the past.
It was also my first ever model wit an canopy and gun bays.
Had to do some modification on the fuel tank since there were no holders available on the sprue.

Nice job on your second kit here. I seem to remember you mentioned in your 109 posting that you had a eduard 109 E in the stash, but this one obviously beat that one as your first eduard build. Revell has done quite a few re-boxings of other manufacturers kits. One hint is to look at the “made in ..” on the box to check if it is a re-box.
This one came out just fine, and I shall be looking forward to the next build – you may like to try posting in groups as you build. I did have some great help from people in there when re-entering the hobby. Happy modeling!

Thanks for your remarks Erik.
I will for sure have a look into the ‘groups’.

Your second build turned out really great, John! I loved looking at your details. On to the third one, me looking forward to.
All the best!

Very nice John! You’ve made me scramble to see what my Revell D9 kit actually is now.
John vd Biggelaar said on May 13, 2020
Thanks Jimmy.
Wondering if yours is Eduard as well.

Yep, it’s an Eduard. The fuselage pieces are quite warped which i’ve also seen on a couple of builds of the kits online. It also appears there is a wing gap that will need resolving. I was actually looking forward to building a real Revell kit as i haven’t built one yet, maybe next kit.

Cannot recall that the fuselage was warped.
Filling had to be done on some locations, but it was not that much.
Waiting to see what your Dora will look like.

Very nice work for a second model after a long pause. It is like riding a bike though you never really forget. I love the long nose 190’s and yours looks great. Keep on building and following sites like this. Lots of things to see and learn to keep improving.

Thanks Walt,
I also have to admit that being older (still feeling young b.t.w.) also helps in getting more details to the model. Patience is something what you need and I can remember that I did not really have that in my younger years.

Super job on this John! Looking forward to the DXXI.

Thanks Dale,
Working on the DXXI as we speak. More complex to build as my previous builds so far, so defenitely a challenge.
