Spitfire Mk.I early (Eduard 1/48)
This model kit is one of my old wishes β a very early Spit with Watts two-blade propeller and the “flat” canopy in 1/48 scale. Eduard has released it’s “Spitfire Story” box just two weeks ago, so it was a real quick build for me (but I’ve started a week before the August 1st).
A few words about the kit itself:
It’s the standard Eduard Spitfire kit. If you’ve built one, you already know how it fits. The only thing here worth mentioning -it’s better to attach gun barrels after the wing assembly, not before.
New Eduard decals are hard to work with. Even if you will decide to use it – walkways to be painted anyway.
Positive rivets. It’s not in the scale to my mind. I would prefer not to have them.

Great results for the time taken. Love it or hate it, with the paint on it and your subtle shading, that surface detail looks fantastic, and just right to my untrained Mk.I eyeball.

Well, I just missed a few updates of your WIP page and found a fully completed model on the headlines! You are a fast builder Dmitry π
The early Spit has a certain charm, and to me you nailed well. A splendid model as usual.
Whatβs with the decals? Just a couple of nights ago I stumbled (in another forum) with a chat about these new decals Eduard produces in-house. Apparently you can peel the film carrier off after a 12 hour drying time, leaving only the colours. Perhaps this as something to do with your bad experience??

@holzhamer Thanks, Pedro! I’ve seen that post about the decals π And looks like it’s not the official way of using them, and, by the way, HGW wet transfers looks completely different if it goes about technology. But I’ll try this method π

That’s a wonderful Spitfire, Dmitry @starfar, that I had the pleasure to follow along at your build thread.
Echoing our friend’s Pedro @holzhamer words, indeed there is a certain charm on the early Spits, and you brought it out perfectly.

π … Greetings … π :
A very fine rendition of a early type Spitfire, well done Dmitry.
The camouflage and very subtle weathering makes this model come alive, it is not everyday that we get to see a two prop Spitfire, that alone makes it more historical.
Thank you for sharing these pictures.
