Double Trouble Two
Tamiya 1/48th Scale, straight out of the box fun build. Back in the 80's Don Davidson used to venture to a few airshows near Ohio from his New England base in his restored version of Double Trouble. The paint scheme always stood out. I found the Barracuda decals at an IPMS show last year and thought I'd give it a go. The 353rd FG had impeccably maintained Mustangs so it made for a nice clean build. This was a ‘funstang' to break up the parts fabrication for the TF conversions. I did add photoetch canopy rails and seatbelts. It's painted with Alclad, Tamiya and Mr. Color paints. Really loving the NMF process!
Very nice Mustang! Silver is sometimes pain, but you have done it very nicely.
Good looking Pony Jim, have to ask is the checker board pattern, paint or decals?
Thanks Tom! The decals are Barracuda. The checkerboard comes in 4 pieces and with a bit of Mr. Softer they lay down like butter and match perfectly. My concern over wrinkles quickly turned to amazement when they snugged down like paint.

You hit another home run here my friend. Your bare metal finishes look fantastic. As soon as I get a few projects cleared from the bench, I'll finish up the 1/32 scale Revel Mustangs. Your recent postings have been very inspirational for me. Thanks buddy...
I saw this plane at American Aero a few years ago. I have a bunch of photos of her on my cell phone. Your model looks like a miniature replica of the real thing. Well done my friend. Keep on rocking these Mustangs !
Marvelous Mustang !
🙂 ... Greetings ... 🙂 :
A very pleasing and stunning model to look at Jim.
The finish in this model looks very good.
Nice results achieved on this build, Jim.
Your NMF stands out great.
Another beautiful Mustang, Jim!
Love the paint job!
Yep - another beauty! And I agree with you on the scheme - a real standout. Those decals worked out incredibly!
Nice work! Looks clean. I just finished on myself (the ICM version).
Thanks guys! Can’t wait to build the Eduard, but these old Tamiya kits still hold their own.
