Eduard 1/72 Messerschmitt Bf-110d
Hi There,
This was a bit of a longer build than normal and the scheme was decided on when I took my Nephew to the Daks over Normandy event at Prestwick last year.
He spotted road signs for Eaglesham on our way there and got very animated and excited that he was close by.
Painted with UMP Primer,
Colourcoats RLM 02, 74, 75 & 76
Tamiya Rubber Black and Semi Gloss Black
Varnished with Windsor & Newton Satin
Aerial Rigging Uschi Van Der Rosten Fine.
Overall very happy with the finished article.
Thanks for looking.
As always any comment and criticism very welcome.
Cheers,
Alistair

Very fine looking 110, Alistair.
I do love that scheme a lot, must be difficult to apply mottling on a 1/72 scale.

Hi There,
Many thanks for that.
I kind of cheated and used a splatter mask. You still have to be careful but it makes things a bit easier.
Cheers,
Alistair

Nice work, I gave you a “liked.”
Eduard’s 1/72 Bf-110s are generally considered less-fiddly and better than their 1/48 kits. This one looks very nice indeed.

Many thanks for your kind comment.
This one bit back at me quite a few times but to be fair it was more down to operator error than anything else.
Cheers,
Alistair

Hi Spiros,
Thanks so much but again I think your being overkind.
I am quite chuffed with the end result though.
Cheers,
Alistair

Alistair @alistairfgauld, your build instantly prompted me to check my “dogfight double” build of Air Vice Marshal “Johnnie” Johnson chasing a Bf-110 C, with his Spitfire IX JE J EN398, built many years ago, posted here:
Your 110’s camo looks to be the same! My (double) kit is the old’n’basic Airfix; moreover, I didn’t build the Bf as well as you did. Nevertheless, I took a couple of pics, to accompany your article here:

I don’t know about my 110 being better built that display is an absolute belter.

I’ve always liked the 110 since building the original Airfix 1/72 more years ago than I care to remember. Yours looks great, good job especially on the camouflage scheme. Definitely liked.

Nice job. Looks like a nice kit and you did a great job with it. The splatter mask sure does give a nice mottle finish for you. I have the Eduard 1/48th scale kit, makes me want to move it to my build list. Well done!

Hi there,
Thanks very much.
The kit gave me a few issues but these were down to operator error as I know that it has gone together very well for other people.
Give yours a go I had fun building mine.
Cheers,
Alistair

A great-looking 110 – one of my favorites of the German twins. Nicely done.
