Classis Kit: Original Airfix 1/72 Defiant (1960)
When I looked at the kit I knew there was something wrong with the nose outline so I sat aside. Later at a show in a sale box there a resin nose by DB Productions for the Airfix Defiant for $1. I remembered my Airfix kit so I bought and put it to good use. The DB instructions had a drawing of the correct outline of tail and rudder and so I made a new one with that information. I also had Pegasus model of a Defiant tug that I knew I probably would never built. I took the metal landing gear from it for my build. I used Falcon vacu-form clear parts as well and some left over cockpit parts to busy up the interior so the Airfix pilot would have something to do. Does the Airfix pilot have a name by the way? I did not have any references for the aircraft and some of you will notice missing aerials and such and simplified landing gear. The kit decals went on beautifully though.
So here she is and that is how she will remain.
Excellent result out of this old kit, David!
Love all your improvements!
Thank you Spiros! It took a lot of work but it turned out better than expected.
Looks like a Defiant to me. Nice work!
I hope so! Thanks.
That’s gorgeous.
thank you James. I now need to build the latest one and do a comparison shot.
Very nice!
Thanks Greg!

Greatly detailed for a 1/72 scale.
Hi John, thank you very much.
Nice, I love the upgrades!
Thanks Bob. I think this is something you would do too!
How about if we name the Airfix pilot Paul Boulton?
Lol... very clever.
