MiG-19PM Heller 1/72
Another model completed which was started in the last century and was pulled out of storage.
Checking the web, this Heller kit No 251 was probably released in 1979, with the initial release in 1973.
Considering the age, I think Heller did a nice job capturing the lines of the MiG-19 which I personally do not find very appealing.
Having all those rivets didn't help much when applying the decals.
I found that MiG-19 "335" actually had NMF with solid numbers during its active service, being retired in 1969 and serving as gate guard at Preschen until 1980.
Without digging too deeply, web photos indicate no cannons with AA-1 (K-5) Alkali missiles - which would make it a MiG-19PM.
Camouflage was only applied after 1980 when "335" was transferred to the Berlin Gatow museum.
Camo scheme was referenced from 'Print-Scale' Decals with segmented '335' numbering, painted with Tamiya Acrylics XF-52 & XF-59 and Model Master RLM65 and finished with Micro-Satin.
Decals were a mix of spares leftover.
