Focke-Wulf Fw 190 F-8 (1/72, Eduard)
I have veered into something different when I have picked up Eduard's 1/72 Fw 190 kit a couple of years back. The purpose was to join a friend's SIG at the time. Since WW2 is not my main focus, I thought I might take it as an experiment too.
The basic Fw 190 F-8 kit sprinkled with a couple of drop-fit accessories was fun to build. I have used SBS decals and Mr. Paint colors to build (probably) W. Nr. 588412 which served in Hungary during 1944/45 winter, hence the missing wheel covers. This particular airframe was piloted by Gyula Tizekker, who called his aircraft Pöttom (The Little One). Crew chief called the aircraft Bumerang because she always came back from the battle.
The gorgeous display base was beautifully crafted by my dear friend from Minsk, Belarus.
That's really a great base, one of the best I have ever seen.
Oh, right - the model looks great too. 🙂
This is a beautiful 190, David @david_lengyel
I first thought it was 1/48 because of the detailed work done.
The base is also awesome for a winter display.
Awesome model AND display, David!
Hard to believe it is only 1/72!
Really nice paint work, I don't know how you guys do that in such a small scale. Looks beautiful!
It is apparent you need to continue producing models that are not "your main focus!" This is a beauty - love the weathering and paint work, and it's in my preferred scale. Well done!
Great work from top to bottom! That ground cover looks very realistic!
Agreed with all of the above...well done, top to bottom, David.
David, Looks really nice, being I've got a few of these on the shelf, its nice to get a glimpse of one before I start. I also like your comment about the missing wheel covers. I can only guess that would be due to debris getting hung up in that area. I had never heard of that before.
Great work on your build, it looks great! I had to look twice because this is a 1/72 scale kit.
That’s a beautiful airplane & base... makes a great display . Excellent .
