Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVI TB886 – F/L Bill Harper – No. 421 Squ. RCAF – April/May 1945

August 29, 2021 · in Aviation · · 15 · 2K

Bonjour chers iModelers,

This is my rendition of the excellent by . The model comes from the dual combo kit "The Rise of the Bubbletops" in the Edu'Art series (The kit includes also a Fw 190 D-9 that I will do later).

Many weathering here, but not as heavy as on the pictures of the real plane, simply because I think it is important to respect a certain scale factor on a reduced model (endless discussion...). Otherwise, the model is excellent, except the top cowl which strangely comes in two parts, which means putty and sanding. I strongly recommend to buy the matching resin part in the Brassin line. The rest is of no comment. Exhaust stacks and wheels are excellent and don't need to be replace by resin parts (my guess).

I hope you like it, and see you soon for a new model.

Cheers!

Stéphane

  4. Tres artistique et bien fait ! I remember reading a British pulp comic book In the 60 ies. about a RAF pilot shooting down a MK-16 in the Fog thinking it was a Me-109. Due to the clipped wings. Memories...
