Tamiya 1:72 P-47D-23-RA Thunderbolt
this is my Tamiya 1:72 Razorback done as a P-47D-23-RA "Josie/Cleveland Clever" (42-27899) flown by Lt. Mike Dokovitsky of the 340th FS, 348th FG, 12/1944.
To attempt to achieve tonal variations i did not use a final clear coat. instead i worked in steps, finishing the metal finish first, then painted the black theater strips, national markings, and O.D. forward cowling without a clear coat finish. It kind of worked.
Metal finish is Alclad, paint is Mr. Color. chips are done using a toothpick to scratch the painted areas soon after they were applied. Decals are from Print & Scale sheet #72-173.
Add-ons are Master Models MG barrels and pitot tube, bassin wheels, QuickBoost gunsight and horizontal tail surfaces and oil-cooler flaps. wheel wells were detailed with Eduard P.E. and fine solder wire .
Man, impressive model @aviator6! Great scale modeling sir! 🙂
edited to add: Oh my goodness, it is 1/72 isn't it? You coulda fooled me, it is a fantastic result in any scale sir.
Outstanding. It's hard to believe it's in 1/72 scale!
Really well done, Roger
@aviator6
Another, Roger Fabrocini master piece. Everything subtle, balanced and in place. Nothing over stated and its all done in 1/72nd.
Standing ,clapping and whistling on this one.
Three thumbs up. If I had an extra one.
Smashed the like button.
Anything I say is echo from the comments above... beautifully made overall, can easily pass for 1/48 model
Always love a jug and that's one nice jug.
Another Fantastic Fabrocini project. Great result, and as others have noted, hard to believe it's 1/72.
Wow! That’s a beautiful T bolt! Fantastic paint and weathering. Thank you for sharing!
My compliments Roger, that is an outstanding Thunderbolt.
Amazing result, Roger!
Really hard to believe it is only 1/72!
So much added detail and a perfect finish, definitely liked.
Echoing all the above comments, Roger @aviator6
This is an awesome build, even more since it is in 1/72 scale.
Wow, nice work Roger. I love the wear and tear on the ammo doors ad cockpit hand holds. Very inspiring,
Well done, Roger. I thought it was 1/32 at first glance.
This is one of the best 1:72 Tamiya Thunderbolt I have ever seen! It really inspires me to build a second one of this kit.
Thank you all, I am humbled by your kind words.
Fantastic!
I love the scheme you've chosen, and of course, fantastic craftsmanship on this one. Liked!
Roger, this looks really great. Your paint work is excellent. It has a very realistic look !
These Tamiya P-47 kits are extremely nice, making them towards the top of my favorite "kits to build" list in both 1/48 and 1/72 scale.
Beautiful Jug. 1/72? Really? That’s some talent.
This is a great looking Thunderbolt, nice job!
Beautifully done, especially for 1/72! Love it.
