Classic Kit: Matchbox Messerschmitt Me110 No. PK-115 1:72 1976
The Matchbox Me110 is a simple kit as is common with their line of kits. It is molded in yellow, and brown and does not have the deeply engraved panel lines (well maybe a few) common with earlier kits. I built it out of box and marked with it with aftermarket decals. I like Matchbox kits, especially their armor kits which can be built into little gems. I painted this model with a mix of paints in RLM 02, 70 and 65. In the end, with just a little bit of care it can be built into an attractive model. It is built out of the box as are most of my models. Thanks for looking.
Nice classic David. Is this the kit with a winter Wasp machine on the box art? That one brings me fond memories
Hi Pedro,
Yes it is, I've added a photo of the box to the posting. Thanks.
Thank you very much David, it brightens my day 🙂
Nice David. the Matchbox kits are very nice and you do great justice to them‘
Little gems for sure.
Thank you Bernard. I really enjoyed building this model.
Classic kit and very good photos!
Hi Lis,
Thank you for you comments. Tim Prosser allowed me to use his backgrounds for my photography.
Great looking 110 ! Nice table top photography too!
Hi Jay,
Thanks for the comments. I prefer to use a camera instead of a phone.
Ditto on all the above. Matchbox kits . . . they can really date a guy. I'm sure today's young people would pooh, pooh such a kit. But, back in the 60s and 70's they were cool and had box top paintings. No CGI. Lookin good David.
Hi Stephen,
What's the common refrain used by expert modelers regarding Matchbox kits? They have 'trench like panel lines, crude parts and toy like. That never bothered me; I just build them as is. Thanks.
Your classic kit postings are knocking it out of the park. Thanks for posting another great oldie.
Thanks Bob! I appreciate your comment. I'll be building and posting these old classics as long as I can.
Me oh my - another great job with a classic kit, David.
Fantastic work and fabulous shots in the sun.
Hi George,
Thank you very much. I actually shot the photos in my studio using a photo hot light of about 600 watts, which really gives the lighting effect of shooting outdoors.
Yet another amazing result of a classic and beloved kit, David!
Well done!
Thank you very much Spiros. It is a favorite now!
Nice build David, l love the old Matchbox kits.
Hey Bob,
Thank you. One of my early models was the Matchbox 1/72 P-51D which I built in 1973. I still have it.
Great result on this oldie, David @thevid
Especially in 1/72, it looks beautiful.
Hi John,
Thank you for you nice comment.
You have done the old kit proud! Great job David.
Thank you Michael. I appreciate it.
That brings back childhood memories, great built!
I think all of us old modelers like to see the kits we built as kids, and made a mess off, done with care. That's what why I build them anyway. Thank you.
Nice clean 110. Love those old kits! I have lots in my stash and on my shelves.
