WnW Gotha G.IV - 'Lori2'
Hi...
This is my latest build, Wingnut Wings' Gotha G.IV in 1/32 scale. A large, initially daunting but ultimately excellent kit to build, this has been a nine-week project which I have thoroughly enjoyed.
The kit was finished in Humbrol enamel paints, with some use of oil paint within the cockpit section. Most of the markings were from the kit itself, although the 'Lori2' transfers are from the Pheon Decals sheet for this model, code 32028. Some of the detail of this aircraft's colour scheme has never been confirmed, therefore items such as the engine cowling covers and wheel hubs are a matter of personal preference. I chose the lighter colours in order to have some distraction from the darker grey-blue shade. The rigging was completed using elasticated thread and GasPatch turnbuckles.
The full build is part of the ongoing 'Imperial German' group build, and can be seen here: https://imodeler.com/groups/imperial-german-air-service-luftwaffe-group-build-may-1st-1910-to-present-day/forum/topic/wnw-gotha-g-iv-1-32-scale/, and the YouTube video can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qft1haqelTI
I hope you like the finished model... :-).
Regards,
Paul
This is an absolutely wonderful model, Paul. The amount of quality work put into it is, simply, outstanding, the final result being one of the finest models I have ever seen. Your build thread was a joy to follow.
Thank you so much for this superb entry to our ever growing and utterly successful Lufrwaffe GB!
That wood looks amazing!
Superb all the way 'round.
Beautiful work, Paul! I love your woodwork.
Guys... many thanks. Your comments are much appreciated and I'm pleased you like the final outcome.
Nice, this is a gorgeous build! Amazing work.
Thank you, Bob... :-).
Excellent result, Paul @paulh
Every bit on this build is outstanding.
Thanks for sharing your progress, it was pleasant to follow it.
Very nice indeed. Thanks for sharing. I love the blue scheme.
Great work.
Thanks again, guys. I agree, Ross... the blue scheme is quite eye-catching in its own way. Many of the other kits seen online have been finished in the paler shades, or lozenge, so I thought the dark blue would be a good alternative.
I'm pleased you all like the kit, and you are very generous with your comments... thank you... ;-).
A masterpiece!
This is an outstanding, I got one of this in RODEN... altough I finished the body of the plane... still don´t know how to fix the masive wings in so small ppoint of junction
Amazing work!
Really gorgeous! Probably would have taken me 9 months instead of 9 weeks!
Guys, thanks again for your kind comments.
Greg, believe me, it sometimes felt like months rather than weeks! Well worth the time, though... ;-).
Really impressive, Paul
The oil work is beautiful - really convincing.
I can only add congratulations on a magnificent build.
Thank you, Paul... glad you like the outcome :-).
