1/48 Hasegawa Henschel Hs129B2

October 12, 2022 · in Aviation · · 16 · 1K

This was the project that came out of nowhere. I've never intended to do something like this, it wasn't plane which would took my attention. Fortunately I received an offer from my friend to obtain this 's Hs129B2.

This is old model from 1999. and straight from the box it can be made to look very good. To be honest, I took this model because box was packed with many aftermarket parts.

The box contained Aires resin Mk101 30mm cannnon, Quickboost resin radio, BigEd set for Hs129B2 and pe Part brand for various details.

I knew that I would have challenging task, because I wanted to complete throw away Hasegawa's cockpit and replace it with Eduard and Part counterparts. The cockpit is completely made from resin, assembly took some time, but with weathering finished I was deeply satisfied, OOB cockpit can not match pe cockpit, especially seat, control tables, pedals… I had to cut and trim opening for radio, opening was slightly bigger than radio compartment and I did some surger, replaced hatches with PE and the radio was done.

Fuselage had some nasty seem lines so I had to do some extra sanding and rescribbing, but nothing too serious.

Everything else went very smooth during the assembly, maybe I think that the landing gear with all aftermarket details is a littly bit overenginered.

The model was primed with Microfiller. The model was painted with acrylics. I was a little bit concerned about decals, because they were printed in 1999. But, with some care, with chemicals and careful positiong, they laid down perfectly.

I did just a basic weathering, simply because I'm not a fan of overdoing the weathering. When I began modelling I thought hat all the models had to be severely weathered. Nowdays I prefer to do them according to my momentum. I did heavy weathering on my previous plane, but now I decided to do a slight modulations with paneliners and Oils.

I did some ground crew and pilots for completing this model as a small diorama, but I will have to postpone its finishing because I'm preparing myself to finish some other project I'm working on currently.

Maybe the pics aren't much great, I took the photos during the night instead during the natural sunlight as usual.

Cheers and feel free to comment !

  1. You ought to slide the canopy back so we can see that very nice work you did on the cockpit, which is invisible when closed up.

Nice work on this and a very good result.

  2. Very nice, Djordje! I have this same kit and your build is an inspiration!

    Best,

    Mike

  3. Another amazing result, Djordje!

  5. Beautiful work, Djordje @sheol
The interior looks indeed amazing, just like the rest of this build.
    One of my favorite aircraft.

    • Thank You John, I enjoyed doing this plane. To be honest I didn't imagine that I 'll ever do this model. But now I'm watching the model and I must admit that whole concept of Hs129 is impressive. It is very, very interesting plane with many aspects which were in front of that era.

  6. Great looking tank buster!

    • Thank You my name (my name is Djordje, Serbian for George 🙂 ) Ireally like tank buster planes such as Ju87, Hs129, Il2, A10, Su25... So this was really satisfying build 🙂

  7. Great build! I really like this stubby little tank-buster.

  8. A very odd-looking craft, nicely done!
