Film star! part 3, 'Red 6', 1/48 HA-1112 'Buchon' in the movie 'Battle of Britain'

October 9, 2022 · in Aviation · · 22 · 1.2K

Here's the first of my double HA-1112 "Battle of Britain" movie builds. It is a highly modified Hobbycraft kit, built to go along with my previously posted Hurricane, and Spitfire from the movie (best aviation movie of all time, IMHO).

Hope you like, thanks for looking,

Colin

  1. Very cool build. Your movie star series of aircraft is an interesting group.
Maybe you can build a Spanish built HE-111 to go with them

  2. Nicely done, the movie build was a great idea.

  3. You're right about the movie. Who knew doing a historically-accurate story would ever be any good? ( 🙂 ) I would also add "Twelve O'Clock High" (the 2hr 29min "director's cut") which is still used at the Command and General Staff School as an example of leadership in wartime, and "The Bridges at Toko-ri," which every Korean-era Naval Aviator I ever talked to said "told the truth."

    Nice work on this one.

For those who can't find this old kit, SBS Resins has a 1/48 conversion that I know for a fact works with an Eduard Bf-109G-2/4 kit.

  4. A fantastic build, Colin!

  5. Another great model from a great movie, Colin (@tail-dragon). BoB is one of my all-time favorites also, along with 633 Squadron (I like Mosquitos). I go back and watch BoB 3 or 4 time a year. Well done.

  6. A great addition to your film collection.

  7. Nice job, Colin!
Another favorite of my early WW2 aviation portrayals is Masterpiece Theater's mini-series, Piece of Cake, especially when the Spit flies under the bridge.

  8. Well done Colin. A great tribute to the ultimate aviation movie of all time. I love the “aerial ballet” dogfight segment. I still get my kicks watching the blu-ray version cranked up to no 11. “B of B “ continues to knock me out just as much as it did when since I saw this film on the big screen for the first time at the now restored Alex theater in Glendale, CA during teenage years.

  9. Looks fantastic! The Buchon nose shape is so distinctive - reminds me of some kind of fish, though I don't know why!

  10. As everyone else up said, a fabulous work on an old kit. One of the nicest I’ve seen built around BoB CASA livery
