Roden 1/72 Felixstowe F.2A
After 20 years since it appeared, Roden's excellent Felixstowe hold its ground. The early and late F.2A are depicted here. I used AIMS decals for the red ship. Rigging is elaborate, but thanks to stiff coper wires from coated cables, the stretching job is easier.
My hat's off to anyone who has built a Roden Felixstowe. When the result is excellent, like it is here, I am really lost of words, Rafi!
Congratulations!
Thank you kindly Spiros
Rafi, I just got the Liberty-powered sister kit last week from ModelsUA (an excellent Ukrainian vendor), so your builds will be both guideposts and inspirations. Your use of copper wire for rigging fits well with my experience, though I use phosphor-bronze from a nearby railroad vendor. Yours are really great builds of truly challenging kits. Congratulations!
Thank you kindly Christopher. The Caudron G III is well on its way.
This is awesome, Rafi @blackmopane
Both do look excellent, especially keeping in mind this is just 1/72 and a lot of rigging had to be done.
Thank you John
Very nicely done on both, Rafi. That's an accomplishment...CONGRATS!
Thank you Gary
Those are beauties! Yikes, that's a lot of stringing to do - the planes almost get lost in the rigging! Great job with them both.
Thank you Greg
Pretty amazing model ! You did great on this complex and intricate model !
Truly impressive workmanship . All that rigging must have taken a long time to complete .
Thank you Jay
The copper wires are stiff enough to save the time drilling and making turnbuckles.
It is really rare to see a finished Felixstowe! I gave up on mine after a few trials, will stay in its box forever.
Looks awesome, great job!
Yes indeed, hats off to anyone who succeeds with one of these (and 1/72 makes sooooo much more sense than 1/32 did). Very good work and excellent results on both.
Thank you Tom.
I would not touch a 1/32nd monster model even if it was on sale.
Roden 1/72 models are difficult. These are really impressive work.
Thank you Christopher
Felixstowe is a nice place on the English coast, and these models look very nice as well, as everyone has already said, excellent work with the wire rigging.
Thank you George
Both amazing builds!
Thank you Richard
Amazing work, they both look great.
Thank you Bob
Amazing . I have one in the stash but have not the gumption to take it on. Fantastic results.
Thank you Brian
