Spitfire PR Type IB

November 3, 2022 · in Aviation · · 6 · 0.8K

Here is my latest Spitfire a PR Type IB. This was a simple from an Airfix 1/48th Scale MK.I. I used the gear doors, entry door, prop, and spinner from Eduard. The bulged sliding canopy came from Falcon's "Spitfire Special" canopy set, The decals are from Model Alliance (MA-4813, PR Spitfires-15 Early Merlin Engine Schemes), the paint is Vallejo. The Falcon windscreen would not fit the Airfix kit so I had to make one. Using the early, non-armored windscreen I filed, sanded, and polished the shape of the PR-style windscreen..

This is an easy conversion, perfect for that first conversion.

Thanks for looking!

Bruce

    Very nice finish.

  3. The detailed cockpit with the open door really sets this off very well.

  4. Nice work Bruce!

  5. Well done, Bruce (@rbrucearcher). You took lots of elements from different places and made a great looking model of a plane that you don't normally see modeled. Great job.

  6. Looks good! Well done.
