1/48 Tamiya A6M2-N "Rufe" – 36th Air Wing, Borneo
This is Tamiya's aging 1/48 "Rufe",(released in 1973!)
Its a nice, simple build out of the box, and with a little help, can look quite presentable.
I tweaked it with lots of weight in the front of the float, added Eduard's photoetch in the cockpit, along with some scratch building and detailing, wired the engine, riveted the airframe, and replaced the antenna, pitot, and cowl guns with brass pieces.
Paints are Tamiya acrylics, and decals are a mix of kit (yes, 50 year old decals!) and Techmod nationality markings.

Very nice detailing and pianT/weathering work.
The weathering looks great! Well done.
A wonderful sight! Congratulations on this magnificent model and on the equally excellent photographs of this gem!
Beautiful! When I saw the cover photo, I assumed it would be the Hasegawa kit.
Love it! Weathering seems to fit well.
Amazing achievement, Colin @tail-dragon
You did this Rufe justice, such a wonderful aircraft.
@tail-dragon, That is beautiful work Colin! 🍻
Nice build and finish. Those Tamiya Rufes are nice kits!
Well done, Colin.
You definitely made that cockpit look good. The weathering on the floats is great.
Great painting, Colin, especially the careful divisions on the floats. Cockpit looks outstanding, too, with a lot of good work on the seat. Those two bombs look to have had some special TLC. Congratulations!
Amazing job, Colin!
Excellent work, Colin. You showed what a good modeler can do with an old kit.
Beautiful build, excellent cockpit detail.
Great looking Rufe model, Colin.
Well,I won´t repeat what´s have been said above Colin, except that it is above and beyond!
Very nice work here Colin. This is still a decent kit, and even more so when you think about just how old it is. This one set the bar way back then and it's still a fun and decent fitting build today. Your improvements make it even better, I definitely pressed on the "like" button.
Good looking Rufe Colin, especially like the way you upgraded that cockpit. Excellent work indeed.
Very nice results. I like a lot the cockpit !
