Revell 1/32 P-51D 5NA Mustang
Tamiya's counterpart is superior with respect to details, fit of parts and surface texture. Yet, Revell's economic option looks equally good when completed.
I chose the olive drab overall finish to represent Lou IV and leave out any blue so that it looks like a typical 8th AF aircraft.
Great looking Mustang! This particular aircraft was on the cover of an old Airpower magazine waay back in the 1970's
Thank you Robert. It was a well photographed aircraft that was a source of controversy concerning the true camouflage color.
Wonderful result, Rafi!
Great yo know that the built to price Revell kit is so good.
Thank you Spiros.
It sure looks like a Mustang from here, like the OD finish.
Thank you George. It looks better than my Tamiya counterpart.
Excellent result, Rafi @blackmopane
The invasion stripes still visibile underneath the OD is very nicely done.
Thank you John
Excellent build Rafi I do like the P-51 in these markings. I built the kit end of last year and I agree colours mentioned were confusing to me. Think I got mine slightly wrong. But to reiterate Rafi great looking P-51 🙂
Thank you Guy. Tom Cleaver had a comprehensive review of the colors in question in MM
Nicely done, Rafi. I like the weathered look.
Thank you Gary
A beautiful Pony! Love the overpainted invasion stripes, and the combo yellow nose with that OD looks great. I'll have to remember this scheme for a future build.
Thank you Greg
Very nice Mustang. I’ve built a few of the Revell 1/32 P-51s back in the day and, with some care, they do turn out well.
Thank you kindly Greg
Building the Tam version at the mo. However, if you are going to button everything up this takes some beating. Great job!
Thank you Ross!
