Deadly Stringbag...1/48 Fairey Swordfish Mk.II, 836 NAS, Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm
7/2023
My dad hasn´t done a British aircraft, at least with British markings, for a while. Now it was about time.
Great Tamiya kit, also used Tamiya´s PE set for the rigging. Not a bad idea, worth a try and didn´t turn out too bad. But for the next bipe, my dad will stick to elastic thread again.
Painted with Tamiya XF-2 White, AK Real Color Extra Dark Sea Grey and a selfmixed Dark Slate Grey. EZ Line for the antenna wires and the tailplane control wires.

Model shows an aircraft that served with 836 NAS aboard the merchant aircraft carrier (MAC-ship) "Amastra" 1943/44.
A deadly stringbag and a wonderful model.
Well done Spreitzhofer Familie!
Thanks Spiros!
A nice build of the classic Tamiya kit.
Thanks George!
Wow - that is a beauty! I think that's my favorite scheme for the Swordfish.
Thanks Greg! Yes, think that´s the most iconic Swordfish scheme.
Well, Dad has sure knocked that one "out of the ballpark". 😁 Wow, what a beautiful model Reini. And I think that rigging looks good as far as I can tell! Superb work indeed! 👍
Thanks a lot Gary!
Really fine work!
Thank you Dale!
An absolute gem, Reinhard @grimreaper
The Swordfish is a beautiful bi-plane and your dad has clearly showed that with this finish.
Thank you John!
Super job.
Thanks (again) Richard!
As fiddly as the Tamiya rigging is, having done one of these where I didn't use it, you'll regret not using it. It works better than any alternative.
That said, very nice work and a very realistic looking result.
Thank you Tom!
This is incredibly beautiful!
Thanks very much Felix!
Beautiful Stringbag - great choice for the finish.
Thank you Chas!
Nice! Great job.
Thanks Robert!
Some strong work in making a kit look, feel and play the roll of like the String Bag.
Impressive to say the least.
Two thumbs up.
Thank you very much Stephen!
Nice work!
Excellent work !
